Centenary Celebrations News & Updates

National Conference

 

20 delegates from State of Penang attended this participated the workshop titled “Challenges of SJAM”, where all contributed their ideas to update the Vision & Mission of SJAM. Among ideas contributed, we see the demand of membership retention and development, better coordination in our administration, self-sustainability in financial. Some suggested “Marketing Section” is to be added into our V&M to be help in developing and branding our organization. Our bread and butter, ambulance service and first aid training should be our main focus. Standardization and quality control is much needed to package our organization to another height.

Hj. Badri, Mr Teh Chin Seong and Mr Ramasamy, who have served SJAM for more than 50 years shared their memories and tears, hoping to see SJAM to be one of the best, if not the best service organization. Young officers, Dr. Siva, Mr. Liew Weng Kong and Eddie Tan are also given chance to speak out for the future of SJAM.

 

A talk on conflict management is arranged to help our current and future leaders to deal with disagreements and different opinions. Learning to accept more variety of ideas will be the key to develop our beloved organization. While Chief-of-Staff (Training) Dr Lee Hoo Teong shared his view on our training section corporatisation , helping all states to move forward to the noble idea which will help our financial self-sustainability. The Penang contingent is headed by En Ideris Ibrahim, joined the other 14 contingents from various states in this historical event. Officiated by the representative of the Minister of Health, the event was also witnessed by our international comrades from Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Singapore and etc. More Photos, stay tuned!

 

 

Officers and Members who joined SJAM on year 2008 or before, are to wear this 100 years celebration silver badge. The position of the badge are worn as in the photo below, the badge can be purchased from the headquarters.

 

 

New Uniform Item!
14 December 2008

The new 100 years celebration badge will be worn on the Uniform No. 2(Duty Uniform) of all officers and members who joined on year 2008 or before. The position of the badge as on follow. The badge can be bought from headquarters.

Mass CPR - Penang, 555 get trained !

The Penang Station of the Nationwide Mass CPR was successfully held in Queensbay Mall on 30th November, 2008 (Sunday) from 11am-9pm. This event was officiated by YB Mr. Phee Boon Poh, the State EXCO for Health, Welfare & Caring Community. This event was also attended by YB Mr. Teh Yee Cheu, the State Assemblyman for Tanjung Bungah and our sponsors/partners for this event. The Penang State Government donated a total of 6 CPR Training Mannequins to St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, State of Penang during the Mass CPR.

Penang Station of the Nationwide Mass CPR recorded a total of 555 participants trained in CPR. These participants consist of people from all ages. Children from kindergarten also took part in this event. From 11am until 9pm, CPR trainings were held every 30 minutes to shoppers and also groups of people from various organizations.

The Mass CPR was organised in conjunction with the 100th Years Anniversary Celebration of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia. This event was held simultaneously in more than 20 stations at various states throughout Malaysia.

The organising committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, partners, officers, members and most importantly all the participants of the Mass CPR.
